About Us

We are Portsmouth's ACS. We, as a society focus on Afro-Caribbean heritage, education and networks for the members of our society. We plan and host events for the betterment and education of young adults in our society to make them feel empowered and develop their individuality. Our ACS is here to UNITE, SUPPORT, AND ENTERTAIN our members.

Unite - Our goal is to provide a hub for people of African and Caribbean heritage to meet, socialise and grow together.

Support - The most important aspect of ACS is our ability to provide educational and social support to our members. This often comes in the form of proof-reading sessions, private and confidential meetings with our student welfare officers and mental health meetings over the course of the year.

Entertainment - Another goal of ACS is to provide the best social experience for our new and returning students. We offer the opportunity to attend one of our meetings which vary from casual discussions about music, film, relationships and current affairs to serious debates about racism and politics. We also offer day trips to differing activities such as the ACS Ball, Take Me Out, ACS BBQs and more.

Entrance Fees

It is free of charge to join the Afro-Caribbean Society, but in order to gain unlimited access to our events, you will be able to purchase our ‘Gold Pass’ for £10, which allows you access into our in-university events, and allows discounted tickets for our large scale events such as Take Me Out and the ACS Ball
