Cricket Club (UPCC)
4 Men's teams and a Women's team catering to all abilities.
Whether you're an established league cricketer or completely new to the sport, we are the sports club for you! We have 4 men's teams that train from 2-5pm every Sunday at Portsmouth Grammar School, and 1 women's team that trains from 1-2:30pm every Sunday at Charter Leisure Centre.
Our Men's 1st team currently represent the University at the highest standard of any club, playing in the Southern Premier Division after being promoted as champions from South Eastern Division 1A this season. The 1st team have also reached 2nd in the country after competing in the national rounds of the BUCS indoor competition.
Our Men's 2nd and 3rd team also represent the University in the BUCS outdoor competition in the South Eastern 2A and 3A Divisions respectively, with the 4th team participating in a number of friendly fixtures throughout the summer.
The Women's team also participates in both indoor and outdoor BUCS competitions, with indoor fixtures taking place throughout the winter months and outdoor matches between April - May.

2018/19 BUCS National Indoor Cricket Champions
As well as competing in the BUCS leagues, we have other opportunities to compete throughout the year. During the winter we run an inter club 6 aside tournament; the Portsmouth Premier League (PPL). Players are split into teams via an auction and teams fight it out in a league format for the top 4 places. Then we hold a finals day. With unique team kit, a fantasy league and some bitter rivalries forged last season, this competition has fans nation wide.
We also enter a team into a Saturday football league to pass the time.
For those who plan to stay in Portsmouth over the summer the club has growing connections with 3 local clubs. Havant (where the 1st team play), Portsmouth CC, and United Services Portsmouth. Last season a couple of Uni players played for the United Services and in doing so played on a former county ground at Burnaby road (next to James Watson Halls).
Aside from the cricket, we run socials every Wednesday night, and have become one of the more infamous clubs seen out every week without fail. Every week has a different theme, contrasting from 'Where’s Wally' to wearing pink tutu’s and headbands (of which you will be informed in plenty of time). We’ll start the night in the Student's Union, then after a few games of beer pong in Mr Miyagis, and the odd stop off here and there, we end up in the ever famous Flops (Fleet and Pop World) for Purple Wednesday.
As well as offering socials every Wednesday, we will also hold special events such as our annual Christmas dinner, beer pong world cup, the Isle of Wight social earlier on in the year, and many other big events throughout the year!
We aim to make sure that all members make the most of the social side of life whilst being at university, and we feel that being a member of the UPCC is like being part of a big cricketing family!
A membership of £85 per year includes weekly training sessions at Portsmouth Grammar School throughout the first two semesters, match fees and travel costs for both indoor and outdoor BUCS fixtures. Membership to the AU and insurance. Access to socials and the end of year tour.
Other costs- Trials in September cost £5 - this covers the cost of hiring the hall. For 1st and 2nd team players there is the fantastic opportunity to train at the Ageas Bowl on a Wednesday afternoon throughout the winter at a small fee of £5 per week. Participation in the PPL (Portsmouth Premier League). This is our intra-club indoor tournament run in a similar style to the IPL. Franchises are created, teams selected through a draft and the tournament is played usually during the scone semester.
