Pole Dancing Club
About Our Club
Pole Dance is a fantastic way to get fit and have fun while you’re doing it! It is a great way to start getting involved in University life and provides the opportunity to try something new. Our club is forever growing with more and more members and we welcome anyone who is interested in joining. We run weekly socials which is a great way to meet new people and have fun!
We provide the opportunity to take part in competitions as described below! If you are also looking for something to improve your confidence, we are the society to join!
Competitions and Events
While Pole Dancing is up and coming in the sporting world we do our best to get out there and compete as often as we can outside of the University.
Last year we competed in the South West Inter-University Pole Dance Regionals and are keen to compete again this year with an even bigger team! There are a variety of categories at competitions; beginners, intermediate, advanced, super advanced and group. This means that there is the possibility for everyone to compete depending on their level!
We also compete annually against Southampton in Varsity, the unmissable event which involves the two universities going head to head in a variety of different sports. Every year we host our own charity Pole Dance Showcase, “So you think you can Pole Dance?” This involves members from our society working with and teaching other inviduals from different societies in order to create fun and exciting doubles routines!
Our membership is free!
Lessons & Training
As well as our own training sessions in the Union on a Tuesday, lessons from an outside instructor are also available! These are available to purchase from the Spinnaker Sports Centre opposite the Students Union. Being a member allows you to have a discounted price on these lessons! The price will be dependent on the popularity of the course, but we will keep you updated on this! Lessons will be on Thursdays 7pm-8pm for beginners and 8pm-9pm for Intermediate as well as on Friday 7pm-8pm and 8pm-9pm for beginners. We also provide opportunities to take part in workshops which allow us to learn different moves and fine tune ones we already know.
For any help, advice and information about lessons, how to purchase them, when and where they run etc please contact the club via email or the Facebook page.
Want to try before you buy? Taster sessions are available to book at Freshers Fayre!
Who can join?
EVERYONE AND ANYONE! Absolutely no experience is needed and people, both boys and girls, from all levels are welcome!
