Student Bar Association
For motivated students interested in a career at the bar
David Lammy's Government Review suggested: “The Government should set a clear, national target to achieve a representative judiciary and magistracy by 2025. It should then report to Parliament with progress against this target biennially.”
The MOJ rejected this recommendation.
Rather than a top-down solution, we created the SBA to address the issue at its foundation.
The University of Portsmouth Student Bar Association is a means to create a pathway to the Bar by education, networking and advocacy training.
Our goal is for our members to leave with a solid foundation of oral and written advocacy and a good understanding of the qualities chambers are looking for in Pupils and Tenants.
We will have careers events which will introduce our members to Clerks, Legal Advisors and Solicitor Advocates.
We will meet 1x per week for an Advocacy, education or careers event.
